Mars Supply was founded in 1924 as the W.P. & R.S. Mars Company, established to serve the emerging iron mining and timber industries of Northern Minnesota. From day one, Bill and Bob Mars Sr. built the company around a simple philosophy: find solutions and add a personal touch. More than a century later, that philosophy still drives everything we do.

In 2017, the company rebranded as Mars Supply — but the mission never changed. Today, the fifth generation of the Mars family takes an active role in the business, personally making sure every customer is taken care of. We're not a call center. We're your neighbors.

Growing to Serve the Upper Midwest

In 1953, Bill Mars founded Conveyor Belt Service, Inc. (CBS) as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mars Supply. CBS repairs, installs, and services heavy conveyor belts for mining companies, coal-fired power plants, Great Lakes shipping facilities, and cargo carrying vessels — across the region and around the world.

Mars Supply expanded further with the acquisition of Walter R. Hammond Co. in 2013 and Machine Tool Supply in 2020. With distribution centers in New Brighton (Twin Cities) and Duluth, we serve manufacturers, machine shops, construction companies, and industrial operations across Minnesota, Western Wisconsin, and the Dakotas — with same-day delivery to the Twin Cities metro.
